Oh, yes, and their favorite displays of affection come at 5 a.m.
---I KID YOU NOT!!!
It is like a little internal Siber-clock
goes off and they are on the bed, head-butting, chasing your toes, taking
care of your hair grooming needs for the day, purring in your ear (or
sucking on it) – you name it, they do it. You might as well give in and give
them 10 to 15 minutes of undivided attention, and then roll over and go back
to sleep until your alarm goes off, otherwise they will keep after you -
relentlessly.
Siberian Characteristics
So you want a Siberian, huh?  Well, be
prepared for spending less time in front of
the TV or computer. OR, if you have to be
at the computer, get ready for some major
assistance by your new companion/s!
Siberian’s are the most wonderful of cats, in my humble opinion. Of all the
kitties I have owned over the years, I have found the Siberian to be THE most
consistent on characteristics and personality.
       BUT…WARNING!!!   Be ready to

your home. You will need to do this BEFORE you bring your new baby home!
Siber-dizing is essentially thinking
like a Siberian does, and then
move anything of great sentimental
or cost value to places where your
new 'little' one can not reach them.
[Remember: Your 'little' one will eventually be a BIG one!]
Siberians are friendly to strangers, and not afraid of
much, if anything (which can be a problem when
teaching them to stay off of countertops!). They are
very dog-like; they are intelligent and learn their name
and come to you when you call.
They display affection, especially for their ‘owned
one’ – the person or people they choose to bond
with. They deliver head butts to you, and to other
pets, provide “kitty kisses”, and do what I call the
‘jerky-jerk tail’ display – their tail quivers when
they are excited to see you.  They will also try to
get in front of your path and do a Sib-roll or flop,
right in front of you, exposing their belly in a show
of total trust and affection.
Siberians love to talk to you, but not like you would
expect other cat breeds to ‘talk’. Sibs rarely ‘meow’,
but rather talk in frequent chirps, burr’s, and loud,
sometimes almost musical, purring.
Other non-verbal communication is the way they
carry their tails -high and proud.  One of mine
even carries his over his back up to his head
like a little flag display! Sibs are known for
sauntering around the house with a sort of
‘regal’ air to them.
Do not expect a lazy cat
when acquiring a Siberian,
They are extremely active.
They LOVE to play!!

     They LIVE to play!!
They find it most
enjoyable when YOU play
with them, or if they have a
playmate – another cat or
dog. Yes, even a large dog
will do!!
However, they are
content to have toys
of their own which
they play with when
you are not around.
How do I know this?
Well, their toys ‘mysteriously’ are
found in the strangest places
early in the morning when I get up,
and when I get back from work!
Siberians are contemplative and great problem
solvers.  Thus, it is critical to make sure you
hide your 'da bird' play wand well,
otherwise...you may have feathers all over
the house, and a bare wand left over!
